The Calliope Project (Thirty Poems in Thirty Days)

1 Apr

April is National Poetry Month, friends. Feel free to hug your tattered book of poems from high school or college and dance around with sonnets in your head. As for yours truly, I ain’t got time for dancin’. But, in honor of this month, I will be participating (participatin’?) in NaPoWriMo, an annual project in which participants write a poem a day for the month of April. Neat, huh? Join me, won’t you? Or at least read each day’s efforts and let me know what you think.

Onwards! The first poem will be the next post.

Oh, almost forgot:

Calliope Muse

Meet Calliope. One of the nine muses from Greek mythology, specifically of epic poetry. Let’s put her to work, shall we?

[…] NaPoWriMo was a complete success. Woo hoo! Thanks to all who read my work, commented, followed this blog, etc., in the month of April. I’m even more in love with poetry, if that’s humanly possible, and we’re registered at the local library if you want to get us anything. (Way to wrangle a metaphor, no?) In general, I learned that I really can write every day, if I put my mind to it. I suppose all that raucous laughter at a fellow writer who once told me he gets up at 5am every morning to write was unwarranted, huh? Sorry. […]
