Day Six.

6 Apr

clean out these rooms with me,

my darling,

help me to get every nook and cranny.

don’t forget the cupboards and the closets,

even the walls and the ceilings,

and certainly remember that awful pantry.

we will wash all the walls and get the floors,

the doorknobs and the doorjambs;

I’ll even do the tub, leave it to me.

because we need to clear it all out,

all these reminders of her,

and we’ll stop at nothing, you’ll see.

sadly, there is one place I cannot reach;

one place, my darling, where I cannot touch–

there in your heart, where she still runs free.
