sleep come free me.

20 Aug

I’d really like to get that sleep, though. Please and thank you, whoever you are that has me awake.

2008? Really?

I remember when 2000 was on its way. Largely influenced by the media onslaught of the supposed terrors of Y2K, I decided to hole myself in the basement and be protected by its underground walls when the year 2000 hit. What was I imagining? Some sort of sci-fi nightmare? Where everyone upstairs would be zapped and/or really thirsty, while I was saved and saturated in the basement? (I think they kept saying something about having a lot of bottled water. Or was that a tornado thing?) The bottom line, though, was the overwhelming understanding that we were moving into the 2000s. Pretty crazy. And now, now, tomorrow is 2008! Nevertheless (despite the fact that, sadly, we don’t live like the Jetsons), I well understand that the stream of time keeps marching on, whether we’re baffled by it or not.

I would have enjoyed a flying car, though. Or, in the least, a robot maid.

Side thought: whatever happened to Kristy Yamaguchi? Michelle Kwan? All the other ones? I miss the melodrama of competitive skating.

Sincerely, Taj
